Servando Valero
COMPOSER

Bio
Composer and pianist, Servando Valero (Cádiz) has pursued a career deeply shaped by the confluence of art, science and the symbolic traditions of different cultures. After beginning his training in his home city, he continued his studies in Seville and Granada before broadening his horizons in Boston, where he worked primarily in the field of electroacoustic music. During this period, he wrote the first Spanish translation of the Csound manual included in The Csound Book (MIT Press).
Thanks to grants from the “la Caixa” Foundation and the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), he further refined his training in Germany with the composer Ulrich Leyendecker at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim. His international experience ultimately consolidated an aesthetic deeply concerned with balance among the various aspects of the musical work, understood as a reflection of the different dimensions of the human being.
He is currently Head of the Composition Department at the Manuel de Falla Professional Conservatory of Music in Cádiz, combining his teaching duties with his creative work.

Stylistic framework
Servando regards his work as simply one further expression of an artistic tradition which, throughout the centuries, has ensured its survival through unconditional devotion to the study, codification and transmission of knowledge concerning the hierarchy of harmonic relationships, symbolically and systematically articulated in every aspect of creation, both in the manifested form and the creative process itself.
Perhaps by virtue of his own name, in his musical discourse everything (from the structural to the tonal, including the symbolic) seeks merely to observe the laws that have been the object of study and reverence within that tradition.
