La Sublime Esperpento is an interdisciplinary project that brings together the portrait work of Catalan artist Albert Bonet and the musical vision of Spanish composer Servando Valero.
Inspired by a curated selection of Bonet’s portraits, the project unfolds as an immersive musical journey in which each image is reinterpreted through sound. Symbolic details, visual textures and emotional nuances are transformed into a musical language that echoes the artist’s powerful visual world.
Presented as a 30-minute micro-concert, the work is made up of fourteen short interconnected pieces, each conceived as part of a continuous narrative experience.
Rather than a traditional concert, La Sublime Esperpento is conceived as a contemporary cultural production that combines live performance, visual art, digital development and audience mediation. Its format has been designed to engage both performance venues and international cultural platforms through competitive artistic calls and curated programming initiatives.
This production has been promoted and coordinated by Bahía Clásica Agency, in close collaboration with the participating artists. The music was specifically composed for the Esencia Saxophone Quartet, who will premiere the work.

Creators
Artists exploring the dialogue between music, image and contemporary creation.
Albert Bonet
A Catalan multidisciplinary artist whose work moves between hyperrealist painting and contemporary social critique. Through portraiture and scenes drawn from everyday life, he explores identity, consumer culture and the symbols of popular culture.
Servando Valero
A Spanish composer and pianist whose work seeks a balance between the architectural structure of musical narrative and the expression of the human psyche, its arts, sciences and pseudosciences, with a particular fascination for the symbolic traditions of different cultures.
Collaborating Artists
Cuarteto Esencia
A Seville-based saxophone quartet formed by Jesús García, Gonzalo Romero, Javier Cuesta and Jesús Polo. Their work combines classical repertoire with contemporary creation, with a particular focus on Andalusian musical tradition approached from a contemporary perspective.
